The Jamaican Association of Maryland, in consultation with Ms Joy Dufour, President of POGS Jamaica Inc, has agreed to partner with POGS Jamaica Inc, by participating in its 2014 fundraiser event and beyond. On Sunday July 28, 2013, POGS Jamaica,Inc held its first Annual Fundraising event at the Avant Garde Ballroom in N. Bethesda, Maryland. The Friends of Good Shepherd Mobay, Inc. Was established in 1996 to support the work of the Good Shepherd Foundation of Montego Bay, Jamaica. The Good Shepherd Foundation is the brainchild of the Most Rev. Charles H Dufour D.D., C.D., former Roman Catholic Bishop of Montego Bay and currently Archbishop of Kingston.

The Foundation supports a hospice, medical clinic, several homes for mentally and challenged children and children with HIV. In addition, its educational fund benefits hundreds of children throughout Jamaica. A three million US$ state-of-the-art medical complex is currently under construction in Montego Bay. Upon completion, it is expected to serve a wide cross-section of the community. POGS Jamaica Inc. is the newly formed Maryland and the Metropolitan Area Chapter of The Friends of Good Shepherd Mobay, Inc. (FOGS).

The Organization was officially launched on February 20, 1997 by then Governor General, the Most Hon. Sir Howard Cooke. FOGS was established to assist the poor and infirm people in Jamaica. Its mission is to provide financial, physical, and moral support to the educational and healthcare needs of the disadvantaged currently residing in Jamaica. FOGS is also now devoted to serving the poor and marginalized in Kingston and other areas of Jamaica.
